About the Role:
Dallas Christian College (DCC) is seeking a Christ-centered and highly motivated individual to serve in its Academic Success program.
The Academic Success Coach (ASC) serves the mission of the Dallas Christian College by providing high-quality proactive support to undergraduate students, with a primary focus on improving retention risks for at-risk, underperforming, and academic probation students. The ASC helps students develop study skills, test-taking strategies, and time management habits that lead to self-efficacy and academic success. The ASC also supervises peer tutors and study halls.
The ASC integrates Christian faith and learning, to support student spiritual and academic development and to uphold the doctrinal commitments and community standards of the college, consistent with accreditation standards of the Association of Biblical Higher Education (ABHE). Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain a dedicated caseload of at-risk students, including those on academic probation, transfer students, and first-generation students.
- Conduct regular one-on-one coaching meetings to develop student academic recovery plans, set academic and personal goals, and improve time management, study habits, and self-regulation.
- Monitor student progress, attendance, and grades through proactive outreach, early alert systems, and follow-ups.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation of student interactions and coaching sessions in compliance with FERPA regulations.
- Prepare regular reports on student progress and intervention outcomes.
- Teach assigned developmental courses in accordance with approved curricula, course outcomes, institutional policies, and effective pedagogical methods suited to the assigned modality (on-campus, hybrid, or online).
- Provide and / or supervise Student Learning Center services (e.g., proctoring make-up exams; hear student memory work and report to the professor; assist with circulation of library course reserve books; proofreading / editing student papers).
- In cooperation with department chairs, recruit, train, mentor, schedule, and supervise student peer tutors .
- Serve in accordance with pertinent policies found in the DCC Employee Handbook, including the Faculty Supplement in Sections 7-9 of that document.
- Support the mission, vision, and community life of the college.
Minimum Qualifications
- Evidence of Christian faith and commitment consistent with the mission of the College as well as active involvement in a local church.
- Undergraduate degree in a pertinent field (e.g., communications, counseling, education, English, or psychology).
- One to three years prior experience as an academic coach, advisor, or teacher.
- Demonstrated experience in training, leading, mentoring, or supervising employees or peers.
- Demonstrated ability to teach effectively in traditional classroom and/or online environments.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate degree in a pertinent field (e.g., communications, counseling, education, English, or psychology).
- One to three years prior experience in academic coaching, advising, mentoring, or teaching experience in a higher education setting.
- Experience integrating faith and learning in an academic setting.
- Demonstrated ability to teach effectively in traditional classroom and/or online environments.
- Familiarity with learning management systems and instructional technology.

Work Schedule and Conditions
- Availability to work daytime hours Mondays-Thursdays and to attend monthly Friday employee meetings (morning) during the academic year.
- Ability to climb stairs.
